The Discovery Pack allows you to measure luteinizing hormone (LH) and progesterone (PdG) with our ultra-sensitive urine testing technology powered by our AI-powered app.
The Discovery Pack is the first hormone-testing starter kit of its kind. With 5 test cartridges, an AI-powered app, and a consultation, the Discovery Pack is just what you need to start your hormone health journey off right.
How do I collect my sample?
The Discovery Pack cartridges are best used as a dip test though you can still collect your sample midstream if you prefer.

Midstream collection involves holding the cartridge in a stream of urine.
Dip test collection involves dipping the cartridge in a cup of urine.
If you are using Oova as a midstream test, flip the cartridge upside down, so the QR code points away from you. This is to avoid urine splashing into the test window.
If you are using Oova as a dip test, ensure that the urine does not go past the sample pad. The urine should not touch the QR code.
If you are collecting your sample midstream, make sure to keep your test cartridge under the flow for 5-10 seconds. If you use the dip test method, hold the test in the cup of urine until you start to see the urine moving up the test window.
How is the Discovery Pack different than the Oova Test Kit?
The Discovery Pack includes the same technology that you would receive in the full Test Kit. The difference is that with only 5 test cartridges, you won't get the full personalized experience that the Test Kit is known for. You will still see a hormone report, but you won't be given LOW, HIGH, PEAK, POST OVULATION, or "Ovulation Confirmation" statuses. This is because the algorithm won't have enough data with 5 tests to know your complete cycle. Instead, you can use the Discovery Pack as an entry point into hormone testing to take a closer look at a specific phase in your cycle.
We developed the Discovery Pack after listening to our users and what they needed. Some users weren't ready for the full commitment of the Test Kit, but they still had questions about their hormones that they wanted to dig deeper into. The Discovery Pack was designed to be a tool that can be used to collect quantitative insights into what is going on inside your body.
The great thing about the Discovery Pack is that it can be used differently based on what your goals are. With the Discovery Pack, you'll receive 5 test cartridges that each measure both LH and PdG. You'll use the AI-powered Oova App to scan your test cartridge.
When should I use the Discovery Pack
When you receive your Discovery Pack and set up an account in the app, you will be prompted to enter your "Health Goal." When you scan your 5 test cartridges will depend on what your goal is.
The diagram above can help you figure out when in your cycle to test. Keep in mind, while this depicts the "average" 28-day cycle, everyone's cycle length is different. You'll have to make your best estimate to determine where you are in your cycle. These tips can help.
Follicular Phase: Start testing just after your last period.
Ovulatory Phase: Start testing approximately 14 days after your last period, or after you have confirmed ovulation.
Luteal Phase: Start testing approximately 5 days before you expect to get your period, or when you start noticing symptoms typical to your experience of PMS.
Understanding Your Baseline
If you're experiencing irregular periods or confusing symptoms, the Discovery Pack can provide valuable insights into your baseline hormone levels, so you can start the conversation with your doctor.
When to test:
Test during the follicular phase, starting the day just after your period ends.
What to pay attention to:
If your baseline LH or baseline PdG levels are higher or lower than what is considered "average", it could be a good idea to talk to your doctor about hormone imbalances and reproductive conditions like PCOS.

Re-regulating
If you have recently gone through a big hormonal change like giving birth, starting breastfeeding, or going off birth control, the Discovery Pack can be used to check in and see if your hormone activity has started up again. The goal here is to see if you can capture ovulation, or at least some hormone movement mid-cycle, which would indicate your body is starting to cycle again.
When to test:
Test during the ovulatory phase. If you aren't sure when you ovulate, start testing approximately 14 days after your last period, or after you have identified ovulation via another method.
What to pay attention to:
Look at your mid-cycle hormone trends. Did you see LH peak and then PdG start to climb? An LH surge triggers ovulation, but we need to see PdG increase, too, to confirm that ovulation occurred.
Identifying your fertile window
The Discovery Pack is an alternative to traditional ovulation tests if you're starting your TTC journey. You won't get the personalization of the Oova Test Kit, but you can see your LH and PdG levels in real time.
When to test:
Test during the ovulatory phase. If you aren't sure when you ovulate, start testing approximately 14 days after your last period, or after you have identified ovulation via another method.

Symptom tracking and cycle syncing
Optimize your decisions regarding nutrition, sleep, and exercise with Oova. Use the Discovery Pack to unlock hormone insights that can help you regulate your cycle and reduce cycle-related symptoms.
When to test:
Test during the luteal phase. This is the phase of your cycle between when you ovulate and when you get your period again.
You can either start testing a few days after you have confirmed ovulation or tune into how you are feeling and start testing when PMS-like symptoms begin. Keep track of your symptom changes in the Oova App's Daily Log and see how your hormone changes correspond to the way you are feeling.
What to pay attention to:
If you experience symptoms in the latter half of your cycle, take a look at your hormone levels. If your PdG levels are too high or too low, you may notice an impact on how you feel throughout the cycle

When will I see my results?
As soon as you complete your daily scan, you will be able to see a hormone percentage. You will also see an arrow indicating whether your levels went UP or DOWN since the previous scan.

The Oova App requires at least 4 days of testing to generate a cycle report. Once you have scanned enough times, you will be able to generate a cycle report.
